It's Been Awhile

All Staind references aside, it has been nearly seven months since my last entry, the main reason being that I felt constricted to the persona I had adopted.

In one week and four hours, I will be graduating from high school.

I don't know how to feel about this. My high school experience, while rocky at some junctures, has been an amazing four-year addition to my life. I'm so grateful for the education I've received and the friendships I've gained – they've helped me to become more sure of myself.

I'm going to miss my music teacher and the band room (where I had my first class, and will have my last), the community of students and faculty that I will never see together in the same place again, my closest friends, and the school itself. This is one of the few times in life that I may be able to say that I am certain about something ending.

In September 2005, someone told me that high school would fly by more quickly than I would imagine. I now know how right she was.

Four years have passed. I'm only half an inch taller than I was when I first stepped into the school entrance, but next Monday, I will walk out of the doors – in my cap and gown – a transformed woman.

High school is over.

It's time for a new chapter to begin.
Canon in D - DEPAPEPE

This is DEPAPEPE's rendition of Canon in D, made famous by one of the most viewed videos on YouTube (title: guitar).

I learned about this Japanese acoustic guitar duo through a friend who sent me a few of their songs. I have since added a few more to my library. If you want a few of their tracks, send me a message or reply to this post.

Enjoy!

<lj-embed id="1" />
The Moment You've Kind of Been Waiting for, but Not Really

Ladies and gentlemen.

I remind you that I have remained non-partisan with regard to the 2008 Presidential Election until this point, but I feel that we as a society do need change. The new political system should reflect the intellectual make-up of the United States, and also its constituents' obsession over celebrity personalities.

I have found the solution to reaching across party lines. I have found the solution that will cause the American people to unite [in bewilderment].

My endorsement for this presidential campaign goes to the following ticket:

Presidential Candidate: Joe the Plumber
Vice-Presidential Candidate: Paris Hilton

Together, this dynamic duo can bring the dawning of a new era unto the pandemonium that has been brought upon us.

How, you may ask?

By distracting the populace from the critical issues at hand, the Plumber-Hilton ticket will draw Americans' attention away from the critical issues facing us today and towards a collective reading of Us Weekly and the like. This will allow whoever is left in the government to do as they please with the economy and the Constitution. But it won't matter to us. After all, our priorities don't concern anything that may cause us to exert effort in this needless action called "thinking."

Namely, Us Weekly will change their name to U.S. Weekly, and become our new code of conduct.

That is what the Plumber-Hilton ticket will do for our country.

Confused? So am I.

Best regards,
-Madzorz

-------
DISCLAIMER: The positions taken in the entry above do not reflect the author's actual political persuasion, which will continue to remain non-partisan. This entry is merely a comedic piece.

Topographia of the Cafeteria. Mamma mia!

Every year, I sit at a different table. But the tables themselves are not different. In fact, if they have been moved around during the summers, I may, in fact, sit at the same exact seat where I ate my lunch freshman year, but at the other side of the room.

It’s not the room itself that is fascinating, but looking around the room is like observing an experiment in social transformations. At the start of each year, people have their own style of dressing, of behaving, of choosing their foods; but as the year progresses, certain groups begin to form, and the members conform. Granted, this is not always true. There are many who sit at different tables just about every day of the week. But by and large, by the end of the first week of school, just about everyone has found their lunchroom niche.

I’m sure I’m not the only one who notices this social hub. After all, when given an assignment, the first stop for photography students, I’ve noticed, is the lunchroom.

Cub-ism. No, not Cubism.

Being a Cubs fan, generally, is akin to setting oneself up to be crushed. Obviously, especially as of late, there have been a great many Cinderella stories, surreal comebacks, and just plain miracles, but there exists the omnipresent shadow of imminent failure. What I find delightful/depressing about Cub-ism is the impact it has on Wrigleyville, my neighborhood. After a game, I don't even have to squint my eyes to discern whether the flag over the stadium says W or L. I can just sense by the "atmosphere," one might say, the outcome of any given game.

After having watched today's game (Loss, by the way), I realized that us Cub-ists (and this is possibly true of other teams) see the opponent's pitching change(s) as a form of "cheating," when, in actuality, switching it up is an integral component of the baseball strategy. It keeps things interesting -- and yet, we boo and hiss. I am guilty of this.

And I leave you with one parting note:
-Mostly, the happy Cub-ists are either insanely optimistic, or insanely drunk.

Untitled. Yeah. Watcha gonna do 'bout it? >=]

Well this is interesting...

...yup...

...

O.K. Whatever comes to mind, I will write.

I forgot how fractals work. The next time I talk to Jesse, I need to have him re-explain them, since I zoned-out a bit during his initial explanation last year.

Like all of my past websites/journals/physical diaries, I say that I will "stick with this one," but that is highly unlikely, given my track record. If my credit score were based on the consistency of my maintenance of a single website over time, well... let's just say that it would be quite low.

I love babies.

I learned today that the kids for whom I'm babysitting (whose parents are family friends) are half-Jewish, half-Serbian. Now that is awesome!

I'm starting too many sentences with the word "I," and I'm desperately trying to avoid it... unsuccessfully.

I (Well nice job, idiot. You said "I" three times in the past sentence, and yet you feel the need to start this one with the same...) PUT A SOCK IN IT! GODDAMMIT!

...
...
...
..kay... that was interesting.

ANYWAYS, as I was saying, I should be asleep. The key word is should. =P

My "paragraphs" in this entry are quite short.

Like me! ^_^

And no, I'm not a midget. Thanks for asking. =]

Wots of wuv,
-Madzorz

P.S. - Don't die.
